Neotendon Formation Induced by Manipulation of the Smad8 Signaling Pathway in Mesenchymal Stem Cells GENOSTEM-funded collaboration between the Gazit group in Jerusalem and the Braunschweig group (WP5-tendon formation) has resulted in a study which has been recently accepted by the Journal of Clinical Investigation. The study demonstrates tendon formation in mesenchymal progenitors by the modification of a special signalling pathway initiated by BMPs (Smad8) and its application for regenerative therapies of tendon defect.
